When you have 4 cores that are all slower on their own, the total throughput of data should be as good or better than the same speed intel dual-core, but it usually isn't because people who make games and other software have a hard time trying to write their programs to properly utilize more cores. but the thing is that since they use less cores, the individual cores are each faster than an AMD with more cores and the "same overall clock speed". I always thought Intel was overpriced, and to some degree it is. It's not SUCH a big difference between ATI vs Nvidia graphics cards, but with processors, it's night and day. I learned my lesson with the whole intel-vs-AMD thing.
